Friday Focus - December 16, 2011

The only focus that anyone should need at this point is to make sure that you take full advantage of the time off.  Please enjoy your holidays with your family and friends.  Every moment that we get to spend with those we love is so vital.  This is a great time to recharge and relax.  You are the best group of people that anyone could ever hope to work with.  Floranada is an amazing school filled with professionals who truly care about our children.  I am a big believer in embracing each moment in life and appreciating each interaction as it occurs.  Thank you for making each day memorable and for making Floranada a place that I truly enjoy coming to.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Friday Focus - December 9, 2011

  • Our Holiday Shop runs through Wednesday, December 14th.  It is being held in the Media Center.  The Media Center will be closed before school each day that the Shop is open.
  • The next Super Citizen Ceremony will be on Tuesday.  Please make sure that your students are in the cafeteria by 8:15.
  • There will be two showings of the Diversity Play for students - one on Wednesday for K-2 and one on Thursday for 3-5.  Both shows are at 12:45 in the cafeteria.
  • The nighttime presentation of the Diversity Play is next Thursday evening at 6:30.  There will be activities in the main hallway for guests to participate in from 5:30 - 6:30.  We are hoping for a large turnout as it appears that two of our School Board members have stated that they will attend.
  • December's Birthday Table is next Friday.
  • If you have a moment please read the following article.  It deals with the intentions of the State of Florida regarding the plan for replacing the NCLB deadline of 100% of students scoring a level 3 or above by 2014 - http://edmoney.newamerica.net/blogposts/2011/no_child_left_behind_waivers_spur_state_level_education_reforms-61051

Quote of the Week - (I believe that I have used this before, but I find it to be a simple, direct message that we can all follow each day).

    Friday Focus - November 18, 2011

    • Just a quick word on next week.  Because everyone is furloughing two days, none of us are allowed to work in any capacity next week because of the Federal Law on furloughing.  This means no reading or writing emails (I know that you are heartbroken).
    • Remember that BAT II is the week that we return.  We will be testing on Tuesday - Friday that week.  We also have our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade Honor Roll assemblies on the Monday we return.
I hope that everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving break.  Please enjoy your time with your family and friends.  This is a great time to remember how lucky we are.  I know that this year has been difficult in various ways, but each of you has put those to the side to make sure that each of our students receives a quality education that only Floranada can deliver.  Thank you for everything that you do for our children and for making our school the best around and a truly special place to be every day.  Happy Thanksgiving!
