Friday Focus - November 16, 2012

  • Please remember that I need your lesson plan and for you to complete the Pre-Conference Form in iObservation at least a day prior to your scheduled formal observation.  If I do not receive these, I will be forced to cancel your observation and you will have to reschedule.
  • We have child study scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.
  • Terrific Kids assembly is on Monday morning at 8:15 in the cafeteria.
  • We have a faculty meeting scheduled for Monday afternoon at 2:15.  A member of the Safety Department will be here to go over evacuation procedures.  I would also like to share the tool for how I will be evaluated and briefly review Domain 1 of the teacher evaluations.
  • We have a Family Night at the Fort Lauderdale Ale House on Tuesday night from 5:00 - 8:00 pm.
  • Football dress-up day is Wednesday.
  • Here's an interesting article on teacher absences and the relationship to student achievement - Teacher Absence  Thoughts?
  • Floranada is part of two boundary proposals created by the District to help with the overcrowding at McNab Elementary.  McNab is currently about 150 students overenrolled.  There are a number of reasons why I am in favor of Proposal #2.  I will be happy to discuss these with you if you are interested.  You can view both proposals here:
Quote of the Week - "Teach me and I will be quiet; show me where I have been wrong" - Job.  I am going to continue stressing providing authentic feedback to students.  Are you having conversations with your students on a regular basis letting them know where they are in the process of meaning-making?  I haven't had a chance to review all of the writing samples, but I am hoping that I see written feedback to each student as I asked last month.
